Our Story

Beige house with blue shutters and a gravel driveway.

More than a cabin, Cottage On Pine is a family legacy that began over four decades ago. Built on memories of camping, fishing, family gatherings, and hard work, it's a place we are proud to share with guests looking to create memories of their own.

Big Donnie

The Man Behind the Memories

In 1980, our family patriarch, affectionately known as Big Donnie, purchased two lots in the Trough Creek Acres community. Along with his wife Helen and their sons, Little Donnie and Michael, he built what became known as the "Animal House."

Big Donnie loved the outdoors. Fishing, camping, hunting, and boating weren't just hobbies; they were a way of bringing family and neighbors together. The cabin became a place where everyone felt welcome.

The Original Animal House

Built through years of hard work, the cabin became a gathering place for generations of family and friends. It earned the nickname "Animal House," and countless weekends were spent making memories that still live on today.

Sadly, time eventually took its toll. Years later, we lost Big Donnie, and with him came the end of an era. The cabin sat quietly for several years, holding onto decades of memories while waiting for a new chapter.

A New Chapter

Remembering the weekends we spent here growing up, we knew the cabin deserved a second life. After nearly two years of restoration, countless projects, and plenty of hard work, the Animal House became Cottage On Pine. Today, we invite you to become part of that story. We hope your stay is filled with the same peace, laughter, and unforgettable memories that have made this place so special to our family.

Before you go

Every guest adds another chapter to Cottage On Pine. Whether you're here to explore Trough Creek, spend the day on Raystown Lake, or simply relax around the fire, we hope you leave with memories that bring you back again.
